Abstract

In this work, the stability analysis of the ADI-FDTD method with split-field PML mediums is studied. It is found that this scheme will be unstable at the vacuum-PML interface and inside the PML regions. The instability of this scheme inside the PML regions can be significantly improved with the modified conductivity profile. The theoretical results are validated from numerical simulations.
