Abstract
The current development of Nursing Information System (NIS) in Taiwan is still insufficient to fulfill the specific requirements in clinical nursing work. In this study, the End User Computing (EUC) strategy with the Microsoft(superscript ®) Office InfoPath was used to train and assist clinical nurses to develop a Kardex application, and its feasibility and acceptance was evaluated. Eight clinical nurses in the Hospice ward at a teaching hospital were invited as subjects. A semi-structured interview in three steps was used for data collection. The results show that the subjects could accept the EUC strategy to develop the application prototypes. But constrained with their technical capability, they had difficulty in completing the system with database module. These results of the present study can be the foundation basement for further study, which should facilitate the development of using EUC strategy in developing NIS with the support from information technology staffs.
