Abstract
The use of mobile nursing station under healthcare environment and information technology to facilitate the delivery of nursing practice is essential. Objectives: To understand nurses' acceptance of mobile nursing stations and the factors affecting their acceptance of technology, as a reference for future system development and evaluation on use of technology. Methods: Cross-sectional study design, using questionnaires. Study subjects were nurses who had used the mobile nursing station for at least three months in a medical center in northern Taiwan. Results: The questionnaire contained acceptance of mobile nursing stations, the usage frequency, and open-ended questions. Based on 805 returned questionnaires, the results showed that frequency of use of each function of the mobile nursing station is between 2.61 and 3.58. The average acceptance scores were 2.63 and 2.94, with positive influence on technology acceptance. However, lower scores were insufficient amount of hardware and hardware stability that indicated negative associations. Conclusions: The overall acceptance toward mobile nursing stations is positive and the frequency of use of various functions is high. However, the lack of equipment and prolonged system response time negatively affected the willingness to use the information system. Recommendations: Continue improvement of mobile nursing stations hardware and systems and conduct a long-term follow-up or in-depth interviews as an organization's effectiveness evaluation in order to understand users' attitude and behavior changes on the use of mobile nurse stations.
