Abstract
This study examined the impacts of three variables, relationship quality, leadership style, and status, on the use of upward communication strategies. Based on the literature review, three hypotheses were developed in this study. Intensive interviews were used to collect data for this study and 135 valid interviews were obtained. Data analysis showed that leadership style and subordinate's status both exerted important influences on the use of upward communication strategies. However, the variable of relationship quality was found not to have any significant impacts on the use of upward communication strategies. More research findings were discussed in the study.
