Electro-optical engineering offers indispensable, enabling technologies for the Tera-info Society of the 21st century. Modern electro-optical research is uniquely characterized by its interdisciplinary nature across material, science, engineering and biomedicine. This interdisciplinary research could enable optical-science discoveries and stimulate technological innovation. It is also highly expected that the filed of solid-state-lighting and photovoltaic will continue to show a strong growth potential, due in part to global energy shortage.
Founded in 1980, the Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering is the first graduate institute of Photonics in Taiwan. For the past two decades, the Institute has graduated over one thousand students with Master or PhD degrees. The Department of Photonics (DoP) was established in 2004.And cultivate optoelectronic talents according to the following educational goals.
1.Develop multi-disciplinary optoelectronic engineers.
2.Provide a diverse education to develop team-work and communication skills.
3.Train up leaders who possess a global perspective and social awareness.
