Since established in 1976, the department has emphasized the responsibility on education and research. Faculty members are the elite of the engineering society and the professional facility is the foundation of advanced education. The department offers courses covering fundamental sicence, professional training, and workshop practice, helping prepare our graduates for successful career in mechanical engineering. The diversity of research, including thermo-fluid mechanics, automatic control, manufacturing design and solid mechanics, reflects the department's focus and methodologies on innovation, creation and invention. Given Taiwan's leading role in mechanical engineering, the department is to cultivate students with excellence, globalization, and profession. Ultimately, the department's discipline is to help educate students with professonal knowledge, cultivate students with communication skills and team spirits, prepare students with global perspective, and instruct students to take on the social responsibility to become the elite and the leader in the society and in the world.
